RYA Yacht master Preparation Course

We offer Yacht master Refresher courses in preparation for the Yacht master exam.

The standard required to be demonstrated to the Examiner is much higher than the Coastal Skipper. This Refresher course provides tuition in boat handling and theory for any number of days individuals require to improve their boating skills for the Yacht master exam.

To be eligible for the exam, Candidates should possess the following qualifications :

·Coastal Skipper / Yacht master Shore based Certificate

·VHF Licence

·First Aid Certificate

·50 days experience at sea, 5 days as skipper, with 5 passages over 60 miles, including 2 overnight and 2 as skipper and covered a minimum of 2,500 miles including 1,250 in tidal waters.

The Instructor will prepare you for the Yacht master exam by improving your passage planning, skippering techniques, man-overboard recovery, meteorology, close quarters handling and pilotage in restricted visibility. Thorough knowledge of the Collision Regulations, particularly in relation to sound signals, lights and shapes, is essential.

Please note : Because each student has individual abilities, we can tailor any number of days to suit your level of experience prior to the Yacht master exam.

No one can guarantee a pass at yacht master level all we can do is prepare you well, if the examiner requires a partial re-examination on any aspect then free extra tuition will be provided subject to accommodation charge only.
